Award season is in full swing and I have to say that overall I am loving the red carpet trends this year! Most dresses seem to be very sleek and smooth. Lots of clean line lines and subtle details, being creative with color, cut outs (tastefully!) and small details. My idea of elegance in every stitch! I loved almost ev.ery.thing and cannot wait to see what the, more formal, Oscar carpet brings us.

FOUND: Wish List Item {aka that one time I bought size 0 jeans from Abercrombie & Fitch}

Last Friday I posted my end of summer wishlist, which included a pair of destroyed, boyfriend style jeans. I love that they're so versatile, you can dress them up with some pointy toed-pumps, keep it middle of the road with some jacks or go casual with some converse. The last time I bought 'destroyed' jeans was back in high school, and where was the cool place to get them? Abercrombie & Fitch.

I have to admit I haven't been back in that store since High School. I walked by yesterday as I was leaving the gym and I flash-backed to purchasing my last pair of destroyed jeans and decided to give it a shot {there was also a giant, 40% off entire store sign out front}. I asked the first {fully clothed} sale associate if they had what I was looking for and she lead me right to their denim wall. It looked like the Boyfriend jean was just what I was looking for and it was on sale for $40!!! I tried on a size smaller than I normally am, because {as a lady with hips} the wider legs aren't always flattering. They're a little tighter than appear in the website picture, but absolutely perfect..

High School me was super proud of my find, but 28 year old me isn't sure how to feel. I got a great deal though and they were exactly what I was looking for! They're still on sale so get 'em quick.

Friday Five: End of Summer Wishlist

Moving to Chicago means the return of Seasons!! I'm super excited for fall, but as summer wraps up I'm still looking for some fun transitional pieces. Here's what is currently on my list:

Rolled Denim Shorts

I'm usually late to the 'trend game'. The idea of jorts repulsed me for a long time, but I think a cute pair like this would be fun and casual for the last few warm days of Summer.

I've never been the biggest fan of animal prints. For some reason my mind goes immediately to the Jersey Shore when they're mentioned. I've been seeing them pop up more and more places recently, and may have even purchased a super soft casual sweater with a dark leopard print (justified by the minimal contrast in the tan background and black spots).

Princess Catherine's leopard Coat from earlier this week was so sophisticated and breath taking, maybe leopard isn't so horrible when done correctly.

Just a few things that have made a life a little better in recent days ...{or months}


1) Lemon Water
I had heard about the glories of lemon water before and started to give it a try. It's quite honestly been perfect. Soothing, sweet and quite easy to turn the kettle on, wash my face, brush my teeth and pour a cup of water.  It has plenty of other health benefits that Wellness Mama discusses here.

2)Laura Mercier Lip Glace
About 6 months ago a friend convinced me to splurge Laura Mercier's lip glace. I was in NYC and need a new neutral ASAP. She claimed it would be worth the $28 price tag and I have to say it is.
Winter in notoriously dry and having returned from a 2 week trip to the midwest, I was on a pretty heavy chapstick regimen, but was loosing the little guys everywhere. I'd often just have to turn to my Lip Glace and it seemed to work just fine. It wasn't until I brought out my Chanel lipgloss that I truly noticed the difference. I wanted a bright for NYE and turned to Tocade. My the end of the night my lips were basically peeling off. It was not pretty by any means. In that moment I realized what I had in Merciers Glace, not only a fun gloss but a powerful moisturizer for every day use. I went back and bought several shades, my favorite for everyday use is Blush.

3) Yummie Leggings
Tummy taming and a solid quality legging? Yes. Please.

4)Amazing Hairdryer
I finally got my fan-cay hairdryer for Christmas! My finger dry time is down to 10 mins, 30 mins for a blow out! Cannot get better than that. If you have thick hair, or blow dry daily I cannot stress how much you should invest in this!

5) Wunderlist
For some reason when I updated my iPhone, the Reminders app crapped out. I downloaded Wunderlist to keep my random daily thoughts and reminders and shopping lists together. I do my best thinking on public transportation in the morning and its great to have this guy handy to write things downs and set deadlines.

I've discussed my obsession with Ms. Witherspoon before, but Vogue just asked her their famous #73questions and between CeCe Guest, lasagna with the Female Senators,  rapper names, a backyard trampoline, tattoos and a stunning California home I couldn't love her more!

Weekend Wishlist - Fashionable Fall Jackets

Working in A)San Francisco and B)A creative environment in San Francisco means my workday wardrobe could be pretty casual. I do have my days, but dressing too casual for work makes me a little self conscious. With the cooler, but variable temperatures in the city I've been seeing the 'jacket with jeans' look and I'm kind of loving it. There are layers to remove/add as the day goes on and with the detailing it can give a clean, polished look on those days when you just want to throw on some jeans and a classic crew neck.  I've been bookmarking ones over the past few weeks, here are my current favorites. I'm slightly partial towards the collarless look {as you can tell} and, of course, a subtle ruffle.

Recent {Style} Obsession: Allison Williams

It might be because we share a first name and 2 similar initials, but I'm obsessed with Allison William's sexy, but sophisticated style! I won't lie that when I took the "Which Girls Character are You?" Buzzfeed quiz I got Marnie. Her elegant and slightly conservative looks were more relatable to me than the other girls and I definitely understood her slightly annoying OCD quirks!

I first noticed Allison's personal style at the 2012 Met Gala. Her seemingly effortless, satin tube, floor length Fuchsia Ralph Lauren gown was absolutely stunning! It made me want to stop eating immediately and start growing my eyebrows out!

Her looks only continued to stand out from there. She just has an absolutely amazing way of mixing modern with traditional and it totally works with her classic beauty.  Formal or casual...can I just be her? Some more of my favorites:

When I opened my closet the other day and realized I have 2 problems: Pink and Blue & White Stripes. Although, I have so many already I absolutely fell in love with this number when I saw it on MrsCocoWyse. Even better, it's currently on final sale at Lulus for $27!!!

I wore it to my lovely E's going away party this past weekend. It was so elegant and comfortable!

...made me feel like I was walking around in this Oscar dress from a few years back.

They come in such fun colors and patterns, but for my first pair I wanted to keep with the classics. I couldn't decide between the nude and the black, but I ordered a black pair and they turned out to be too small. I was going to exchange for a bigger size, but something kept calling me back to the nude. I called them {and talked to an actual person!} and they said they would send me the bigger size in the nude so I could compare and not charge me for 10 days (think). They came very quick, I ended up going with nude and sent the black back. 

They are so comfortable and go with all most everything! Inside each box you get a little drawstring sack that they fold up and you can keep in your purse if you want too, for resting your toes after a night out!

They come in the cutest box with a sparkly little flower on top!

Also, each of my packages came with the sweetest, personalized, handwritten note!

Spring Break!!

I could not be more excited to escape the rain in the Bay to the sunshine of Palm Springs this weekend! The BF and I are headed down south for a mini-spring break. Hope you all have a wonderful weekend as well!

As much as I appreciate a nice starched shirt or a cute sundress, there is no doubting I'm a loungewear girl through and through. My t-shirt and pajama drawers are completely bursting, I'm in desperate need of sorting through them.

I've been seeing Tink + Tiger all over the place, and I think I'm in love with their silk set! They seem perfect for a Sunday morning tucked in your crisp cotton sheets with a latte and the NYT....Now if they only came monogrammed!
