Oscar Dresses 2016

How is it Monday already? This weekend went unbelievably fast. Game night was quite a success. After pizza, wine, girl talk, 2 rounds of Balderdash and some Cards Against Humanity it we suddenly realize it was 2am and time for bed.  Saturday was filled with errands and Fuller House mini marathon that rolled into a Michael Pollan's Cooked marathon. Both series were definitely entertaining. Fuller House was fun, but it was painful getting through the cheesiness of the first 5 or so episodes. After becoming an adult and realizing what Bob Sagat's real-life persona was, I just cannot take him seriously as Danny Tanner any more.  Sunday was church ->cooking ->gym -> OSCARS! I made a killer quinoa stir fry to eat this week and delicious truffle popcorn to bring to the Oscar party I was going to.

Now  on to the important things. THE DRESSES! I realize lots of people were irritated by this comment, but I would like to shout out to Chris Rock for reinforcing my point from Friday.

Overall there was no one who did horribly in my opinion, but I did like the Golden Globes comparatively better this year.

Lots of Life News {not mine}

This last week was full of lots of exciting news for my favorite people!

Last weekend one of my favorite ladies, Allison Williams, tied the knot with her long-time {and equally hilarious} beau, Ricky Van Veen. She chose an absolutely stunning Oscar De La Renta dress complete with the ever elegant illusion neckline, deep v back and bow. The couple added a little whimsy to their classic affair by having Tom Hanks officiate!

The other very exciting news was for power-woman Ivanka Trump, who announced just yesterday they're adding a third child to their family come February. She had the cutest facebook video!




This weekend I'm off to Milwaukee to a dear college friend's Baby Shower. She's the first one of the crew to be reproducing. Its so special to be able to share the shower with everyone and be back in the midwest!

Remember that Oscar De La Renta Dress?

When I opened my closet the other day and realized I have 2 problems: Pink and Blue & White Stripes. Although, I have so many already I absolutely fell in love with this number when I saw it on MrsCocoWyse. Even better, it's currently on final sale at Lulus for $27!!!

I wore it to my lovely E's going away party this past weekend. It was so elegant and comfortable!

...made me feel like I was walking around in this Oscar dress from a few years back.

Fancy Halloween: Daisy Buchanan

Hope everyone had an amazing Halloween. Although I didn't party it up last night, the roommates and I decided to throw a party last weekend for the annual event. Quite honestly, it's probably one of my least favorite holiday's, but the day after marks the beginning of the most wonderful time of the year!

I've been lusting after a tulle skirt for a while, so with the intention of incorporating some sort of sparkley witch hat I thought I had my costume figured out. The skirt came and the zipper was broken so with 2 days to go before the party I needed something new! Lucky for me, net-a-porter popped up with this Oscar number on my Facebook ads. I knew instantly I had to be Daisy Buchanan. Add this stunning headband and faux fur scarf and it would be absolutely perfect! 

However stunning that version of the costume would have been, the price tag is a little much for a house party. Where do you go to find cheap, yet semi-chic costume supplies? Forever 21. I originally ventured in looking for a tulle skirt, but ended up finding the perfect Daisy alternative:
