Week 1: #6Weeks2Burn

Way back in November 2012 I mentioned my love of BurnSF.  I've been going for 3 years now. It's an awesome full body workout including cardio, resistance and weight training, and pilates! The routines are always different so you never get bored.

stolen from the Burn Pilates website :)

Every spring and fall they run the 6 weeks to Burn challenge and this year I've finally decided to do it as motivation for bikini season. I'm also hoping that getting my blood flowing more frequently will help with the migraines I've been dealing with. The commitment is attending 4 classes a week for 6 weeks. They're giving away fun prizes at the end of each week to keep us going.

Week 1 started last Sunday. I just finished my 2nd class this week and I'm feeling great. I'm planning to hit one tomorrow and then Saturday morning.  Can't wait to see the results!!

Check out my cute little deltoid!

Monday Inspiration {Power Song}

As I've been making a bigger dedication to hitting the gym. I love myself a good power song. This week I'm really into this Rudimental feat. Emile Sande "Free" remix. It gives me a little extra umph, both on and off the Soul Cycle bike!

Classic Converse

This morning I woke up to an e-mail from Rent the Runway showcasing some of their dresses paired with converse sneakers.  While I don't know if it's quite my style, it is definitely a fun way to add some street edge to your outfit!

I have been rocking converse with jeans and leggings recently. I absolutely love the Shoreline version of the classic Chuck Taylors! They're easy to slip on and off as well as a little more elegant than the classic version.

Summer Hair!

I have to admit, the idea of lightening my hair started last spring. I, heavily, highlighted my hair all through high school. In college I decided to embrace my natural brunette locks, luckily I have some natural highlights to add dimension.  Last spring, solid brunette wasn't cutting it for me and I wanted to mix it up a little, but I couldn't quite commit.

When I started to look longingly at the light chestnut/ombre tones coming into style, it took me 6  more months to get the nerves up to go to my hairdresser. In November we talked it through and decided on putting just a few balyage highlights in the front.

The result has since started to grow out and with summer coming I wanted something a bit more seasonal. I was looking at Gisele (I know right) and Rose Huntington-Whitely for a blonder look for summer.

We put in a few highlights and low-lights and the result is just what I wanted. Can't wait to be in out in the sunshine soon!

Migraine Survival Kit

I can remember having headache's since I was little. I had my first migraine Junior year of High School and was out of commission for about 4 days. Over the last 10 years the symptoms and frequency have only gotten worse.

About 5 years ago I started getting migraines probably 2 or 3 times a year. I'd miss a day of work here and there, but it wasn't too bad. Over the last 2 years however, their frequency and symptoms have changed drastically. I would say have at least 2 A MONTH and miss at least 2 days of work because of them. I even spent 2 days of my Christmas vacation in bed with a migraine.

Early May, I started to exhibit my usual aura symptoms and I knew a headache was coming. My neck seized up, I was vomiting and nothing seemed to be helping. This went on for 7days. A week into it I was finally given lidocaine shots, which help a bit and the severity started to decrease. I was able to go back to work, but I have had a tension headache everyday since.  It's frustrating, it affects my sleep and my life. Laying in a bed for 6 days can get pretty boring and frustrating when your body is healthy and wants to do things but your head just can't. It literally hurts to think. These little luxuries help me get through it and ease some of the pain.

Too block out light. It is so soft and delicate you can barely feel it on your head.

I usually put it around my neck to ease the severe tension I always get

Hands Down the best investment I have ever made. It offers great support, sometimes I can feel the muscles in my neck release when I lay down.

A little guilty pleasure. I don't know what it is but every time I get a migraine I crave one. Usually the only thing I can get to stay down. Thank goodness for lactaid pills.
